It is easier to blame racism when the root of the problem belongs elsewhere. The example of volunteerism highlights culture, not race. Another example when we compare cultures, can be found in comparing two groups of excellence with equal physical and mental capacity in athleticism. Match a swimming team against a football team in a game of football, the results could be catastrophic for the swimmers. Take the football team in full uniform including helmet in a swimming race against the swimming team in their swimming outfit in a deep blue beautiful lake, you may have a few drownings. Which team is the superior team? A clash between two cultures is the same.
To level the playing field in cultures, we must use law, economics, and technology. In sports, you would need time and training in the other’s sport to compete. Even then the physical make-up or body type, muscles involved, and equipment required is not the same as those needed on the flat grassy field of a contact sport versus a water sport. The two teams are equal, yet they are not. Even if unfair, it would be more fair to have them compete against each other in a different game of chest instead.
If we know and recognize differences between sports, without demeaning one or the other due to individual preferences, why not the same behavior towards differences in cultures? As with the teams, each culture stands on its own and should be revered, despite individual preferences, not demeaned just because someone has a different preference and skill. Both may have a common goal. Football players and swimmers are as one when they go to the Olympics to represent their country. Two cultures can coexist in the same country if that country is the USA.
Volunteerism power or family power? Both are equally powerful, and same in numbers.
It is not the common enemy that has the most power to unite. It’s the common goal. The power of a virtuous goal.
