Here we have the reverse. Even if a family’s ancestors lived in such dwellings does not mean that contemporaries may choose that lifestyle. However, it is their choice. Intellectuals have the bad habit – or illness – of thinking they can make better choices for everyone else, elitist thinking by depriving others. Choice is what will allow the material of adobe in the Hispanic culture to evolve in the use of space or form, while retaining cultural function, including modern functionality. P.476
