A BARRIO

RELIGION

Corruption is in politics, churches, law enforcement, business, and schools. It’s in all levels of society. People like to blame poverty on corporations, organizations, ideologies, and religions, but poverty is present at birth in all individuals. We are born naked and we have the innate drive to move out of it. What keeps human beings in poverty is… plus the individual corruption of others. P. 161

In the Tucson area three hundred years of vernacular architecture in this Barrio, became homogeneous – all because of families. More than anything else, religion and tradition is what gave them unity. This is a hint, if you want to ‘collectivize’ Hispanics into useless sheep, attack and destroy their family and religion, since these components holds them together, the two most powerful basics of any culture. P. 478

In fighting poverty, this potent combination is better than religion and better than science in combating poverty, not in saving souls. Don’t get me wrong, eradicating poverty without nourishing the soul is counterproductive, but the real enemy is corruption. The opium of the people is not religion, nor capitalism, as our enemies try to convince us of. It is corruption and the corrupted soul. P, 162  Booker T. Washington said: “At the bottom of education, at the bottom of politics, even at the bottom of religion, there must be for our race economic independence.”  Corruption hampers  economic independence.
